The names ITIL and IT Infrastructure Library are registered trademarks of the United Kingdom's Office of Government Commerce (OGC). The goal of 'Problem Management' is to resolve the root cause of incidents and thus to minimize the adverse impact of incidents and problems on business that are caused by errors within the IT infrastructure, and to prevent recurrence of incidents related to these errors. PRINCE2 provides a Method for managing projects within a clearly defined framework. Recovery options need to be considered for IT systems and networks, and critical services such as telecommunications and power. ITIL Certifications Accredited Schools ITSM represents a structured approach to how an IT organization goes about planning for, developing, delivering and supporting IT services.
The standard is not identical in taxonomy to ITIL and includes a number of additional requirements not detailed within ITIL and some differences. The ITIL Foundation processes are broken down into two major groupings
