Quality Assurance Best Practices In IT

Since its inception, ITIL has become a world-wide de facto standard for best practices in IT service management. The Infrastructure Management processes describe those processes within ITIL that directly relate to the ICT equipment and software that is involved in providing ICT services to customers. In the early 1990s the UK set up a scheme where onsultants were hired, processes evaluated, and the result was the creation of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), which was later made available to the public.

Configuration Management is a process that tracks all of the individual Configuration Items (CI) in a system. ITIL's best practices fall into seven groups: service support, service delivery, infrastructure management, planning to implement service management, application management, business perspective and security management.
